The Alliance Tournament XXII finals are done. According to the official finals bracket, Deteriorated are this year's champions, ahead of Dracarys. in second, Rote Kapelle in third and Psychokids. in fourth, with Paper Numbers and Platinum Sensitivity. sharing fifth.

How they won it

Deteriorated did it the hard way. The bracket shows them dropping one match early in the finals and then winning every match after that, all the way to the title. They were one of only two teams to declare a Vindicator as their flagship.

Under the prize table published in August, the winners take home 40 Heralds and 40 Penitences, and runners-up Dracarys. get 20 of each, out of only 140 of each hull that will ever exist. The winning captain also gets a trophy, and the team's name goes up on the Alliance Tournament Monument.

"Lose early, then win everything. That is the most Alliance Tournament way there is to lift the trophy."

The Exiles

Fractured Skies, a week out

We covered the Fractured Skies announcement last week, and Fenris Creations has since filled in the detail. On 10 November each empire launches a two-month Military Campaign to track down ancient artifacts that ripples in hyperspace have shaken loose, and any capsuleer can contribute, whether they are enlisted in Factional Warfare or not. Each campaign is a race against a rival: Amarr against Minmatar, Caldari against Gallente.

You push an objective forward by hacking containers, destroying non-capsuleer forces in Factional Warfare complexes and new sites, or mining ore, then delivering the faction items you collect to traders in your empire's headquarters system. Deliveries pay ISK and LP, and the traders offer exclusive rewards including a new Glamourex booster, a new faction salvager, scanning upgrade blueprints and rare faction apparel. Each completed objective unlocks a system-wide bonus, such as faster warp speed or more damage, for every ship in that faction's systems from 5 January until the first Conquest. In the warzones, whoever holds the system decides which bonuses are active.

Then it escalates. In mid-January all four empires collide in lowsec in a live event, with the first empire to finish its objectives choosing where the fight happens and bringing command carrier reinforcements. The winning faction gets a limited-time Drifter module in its LP store, and the losers, Fenris says, are left with one option: deploy their Conquest Engines. The first Conquests follow in February, and "by spring one engine will fall."

The ship details are firmer too. Each navy attack battlecruiser gets more speed and firepower, an extra fitting slot, a utility high slot and a new faction bonus. The Naga Navy Issue trades large hybrids for cruise missiles and torpedoes and gains a mid slot, the Tornado Fleet Issue gets a very large rate of fire bonus, an extra mid slot and a big cut to its microwarpdrive signature penalty, the Oracle Navy Issue gains a low slot and a utility high, and the Talos Navy Issue gets an extra low slot, a lighter armour plate penalty and a falloff bonus in place of tracking. The new synchronizer rigs come in three sizes: empire blueprint copies in the Factional Warfare LP stores, Angel and Guristas sets in the insurgency LP stores, and Blood Raider, Sansha and Serpentis sets in the regular pirate LP stores. The expansion also brings the first phase of the new HUD as a Feature Preview and a balance pass for several ships.

Talking it over

Whether you are arguing about the final or planning around the new campaigns, it is better with people who already fly. Our EVE corp The Exiled Titans is in the Discord, and the EVE Online hub has more on the corp.
