The newest game in the We Were Here co-op series is out on 20 October. We Were Here Tomorrow, from Total Mayhem Games, launches on Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with crossplay across all three.

Two players, two walkie-talkies

You and a partner play two explorers trapped beneath the ice of Antarctica, who wake up inside a facility run by Norček Industries in an imagined 1980s future. Its research team has vanished, and Director Kathleen Bowe wants the two of you to finish their work. You are often separated, each with your own role and your own high-tech tool, and the only way through is to describe what you can see to the other person over your walkie-talkies. The puzzles play with time, gravity and space.

That is the hook of the whole series: it cannot be played alone. The game is co-op only, both players need a working microphone and an internet connection, and every We Were Here game is a standalone story, so you do not need to have played the others first.

Total Mayhem Games calls it its biggest We Were Here adventure yet, at around 15 hours. The studio's launch price is $19.99 / €19.99 / £16.99 with a 10% launch discount, and a Fan Edition on Steam adds a digital art book, the soundtrack and wallpapers. On PC it asks for Windows 11, a Ryzen 5 3600 or equivalent, 8 GB of RAM, a GTX 1660 Ti and 25 GB of space.

Why we are flagging it

We Were Here is not one of the games The Exiles are organised around, and we are not announcing anything. But a game that only works if two people talk to each other is squarely the sort of thing this community exists for, so if you need a partner for it, say so in the Discord and see who bites.
