Alpha 4.9: Stability First,
Big Content in August

CIG says the next patch is about fixing the 'verse rather than expanding it. Here's where things stand after a busy 4.8 cycle.

Star Citizen news from The Exiles

After a content-heavy Alpha 4.8 cycle, CIG has confirmed that Alpha 4.9 will prioritise bug fixing and stability, with the major content pieces originally planned for it shifting to August. The studio has also said it's considering changes to 4.9's release schedule as part of that focus.

The 4.8 cycle earned it. Between the asteroid base defence missions, the Gatac Railen, a new alien-inspired carrier ship in 4.8.2 and the return of XenoThreat in 4.8.3, the patch line delivered a lot of play, along with a long known issues list. A stretch of consolidation is the right trade, and it's one the community has been asking for.

"More content on stable ground beats more content on broken ground. August can wait a few weeks if the hangar doors work."

A good window to start

Stability patches are honestly the best time to join Star Citizen. Fewer surprises, plenty of content from the last cycle to catch up on, and an org makes all of it better. Find The Exiles as UTLAGARNIR on RSI or come talk to us on Discord.
