Operation Avalon
Is Live in EVE Online

Version 24.01 brought an event chain worth actually turning up for, plus a quiet Orca drone buff that industrial pilots will want to know about.

EVE Online Operation Avalon key art

Operation Avalon went live on 7 July as part of EVE's Version 24.01 release, and unlike a lot of event content it is built around exactly the thing a group like ours is good at: going out, finding things, and hitting them together.

The core loop is Avalon Investigations. Out in space you will find roaming AEGIS Squall haulers and hidden points of interest that combine hacking, salvaging and combat sites. Work them and you come away with Vanguard Resonant Cyphers, tradeable in for Volatile Boosters and other unique items. The Cypher traders are sitting in ten systems: Amarr, Sifilar, New Caldari, Kinakka, Poitot, Dodixie, Ostingele, Rens, Hadozeko and SL-YBS.

"Hacking, salvage and combat in the same content means a mixed fleet genuinely beats a stack of identical ships. If you have wondered how to be useful in a fleet when you are not flying a combat hull, this is your week."

The Exiles

Patch notes worth knowing

CCP has been patching steadily through the release. The Orca got a real buff: its drone HP bonus went from 10% to 15% per level of Industrial Command Ships as of the 9 July update, which is a straight quality-of-life win if you fly one. The AEGIS Squall respawn bug in Operation Avalon has been fixed, so the event content should now behave properly.

A batch of graphics fixes also landed, including Arkombine Arisen SKIN visual effects and floating lights on the Probe, Thanatos, Nyx and Gaia. Module sound effects are firing correctly again for shield boosters and armour and hull repairers. Small, but you notice when they are gone.

Factional Warfare shifted too

Slightly further back in the same release, Factional Warfare took notable adjustments on 1 July. The ELT-10 site is now ELT-5, meaning five characters maximum for a full payout rather than ten. NPC counts in those sites dropped from six to four with doubled respawn times. Tactical Destroyers picked up a bonus to shield, armour and structure hitpoints. Battlefields have been reverted, freighters removed, and LP payouts went up from 50k to 150k. If FW is your thing, the maths on a small gang has changed meaningfully in your favour.

Flying it with the corp

There is a live event on right now with tradeable rewards, and it actively rewards showing up with people rather than grinding it alone. Flying content as a corp rather than solo is more or less our entire pitch, and Avalon is tailor-made for it. If you would rather take these sites on with a fleet, come and say hello in our Discord and take a look at our EVE Online hub. No skill-point gatekeeping, no minimum ship value, no interview. New to hacking or salvage sites? Our Codex has you covered.
