The hauling is done and the party has started. Colonia's tenth anniversary celebrations are officially underway, and after a month of commanders shifting cargo across 22,000 light years, the region finally gets to enjoy it.
GalNet confirmed the festival opened on 6 August 3312. Major starports across the region are running events, courting tourists and pitching Colonia as somewhere worth relocating to rather than just somewhere far away. Jaques put the credit where it belongs: "If it weren't for the help of these kind souls, I doubt our anniversary celebrations would be as big."
Tourist beacons and a decade of history
The part worth flying out for is the new tourist beacons going up across the region, each marking a significant event from Colonia's first decade. That turns the anniversary into something you can actually go and read rather than a headline you scroll past. For a region whose entire history was written by players, a guided tour of the moments that made it is a genuinely nice touch.
"A region built by players now has monuments to the things players did. That is a rare thing in any game."
The Exiles
There is still cargo to move
If you missed the main supply run, the job is not finished. The Colonia Council is still asking pilots to distribute the celebration commodity packages to markets around the region, specifically Carcosa, Einheriar, Randgnid and Asura. That is a shorter, more forgiving leg than the original haul from the bubble, and it is a reasonable excuse to see the place while the events are running.
How the story got here
Worth remembering the arc. The Council put out the call, Brewer Corporation staged a megaship fleet, and commanders hauled from the bubble to make it happen. The initiative closed as a partial success, which is a very Elite Dangerous outcome: not the clean sweep the Council wanted, but enough to load the ships and get them moving. The celebrations happening now are what that cargo paid for.
Flying out with the squadron
Colonia is a long way to go alone, and it is a better trip in company. If you fancy the run out, or you want to compare notes with commanders who have already made it, come and say hello in our Discord, and our Elite Dangerous hub has more on flying with the squadron. New commanders welcome, no gatekeeping.
